Working Writing

Welcome back to blogathon a blogging marathon! This time
am sharing some important stuff. For our report we had to do a writing sample.

THE BUSH
I was so scared at the sight of the humongous trees arching over me.
I was quivering with fear my friend next to me called Rose swore to me that she saw some
thing moving in the bushes. I was now freaking out since we are in Canada Rose whispered
“There could be a bear”. It was freezing it was minus 100 degrees, well it felt like it.
It was minus 20 degrees “People die out here” my friend said trying to comfort me.
As you can tell she is obviously the worst at it. We were starting to realize that
something was wrong we were looking around for any signs of direction.
I then caught something in the corner of my eye…..
I tapped Rose on the shoulder. I quivered while saying “You were right about one thing”.
There was a brown bear about 10 meter away from Rose I shouted “Rose quickly play dead”
she did as I said. The bear looked me I was hard out sweating while lying on the ground acting dead.
I saw Rose crying the brown bear was smart and walked away. Then I shouted
“Good news or bad news” she shouted “Good news”. I shouted back
“Well we got away from that bear” then I quickly shouted.
“The bad news is that there is a black bear coming for us”.
I said “run black bears are way more intelligent than brown bears”.
We quickly ran and ran and ran and ran and ran all the way to a cottage.
Where we now call our home that is the END!

Innovation is the path to the world

Welcome back to blogathon a blogging marathon.

For our first innovation task was to get a car cross a meter table without blowing the car across using your hands to touch it or using a ramp my group was amazing we came first because our creativity was 4.5 out of 5 and for speed we got 0.9 seconds in my group was Frankie and Ariella to win our materials we use was a water filled balloon, washing line peg, rope and a straw we pushed the car across the table using the balloon as a bolder.

Here are some inventors that made cool and really really useful things.

Some famous inventors...

Reading update on climate change!!!!!!

Welcome back to my blog

These are all the things that are happening

The name of the book I got most of my inspiration from is called Where To Next ?

The thing that helped me understand what climate change was I asked my self all of these questions
What is harming the earth the most?
What does climate mean, then what does change mean?
What is killing the animals?
What is destroying our earths blanket?

The answer to all of these questions is climate change.

Glossary about climate change
1. deforestation (means that taking down the forest and trees)
2.  sustainability (means that gasses and greenhouse  and the earth)

Do you help to reduce climate change?
What do yo think you could do to help out?

the three ks kind kind kind !!!!

PBL - Term 1

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about kindness and the big question was: How can we build community through our actions?

First, we explored some collaborative activities and discussed how we could include kindness and build a sense of community through our actions at camp. Next, we were organised into groups where we had to unpack the above question. In our groups we considered how we could spread community and kindness through our entire school community. We decided that we would offer something that was free and would make others happy.

We created an action plan and painted kindness rocks to put a smile on peoples faces so we hid rocks for each hub and all Our rocks were gone well at least people like them we had to paint the base coat then design them with love hearts and kindness quotes then spray them with polish
Reflection:
For our final product our group we ended up doing really neat  painted rocks

How did your action build a sense of community in the school by  making their day with kind quote

I contributed by spraying and painting the designs

I think the PBL might impact on others by making peoples day and feeling happy

What I learned about working with others was that your not the only person in the group and have to listen to others opinions.

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was;
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and
M for Maths
Then we were given challenges.
The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws
that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team.
We were much better at the second challenge because we were all colaborating and sharing
our ideas more.

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report
using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?
Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made amazing and colourful lava lamps that were very well decorated

Reflection
My highlight from this PBL was how  we all worked together.

Next time I would be more organised and have a clear product.

my award winning performance details

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is what food you eat celebraitions and your language.
Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I read maui and the sun.

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Reflection:
For our production I contributed by being a main role (Pihanga)

I think the show might impact on others by having fun and smiling.

What I learned about working with others was being confident in my self and making joint decisions.
